Letters
Sharing my experience in the moment was one of the ways I have survived my day-to-day battle with cancer, which started in 2007. The letters you’ll find here (mostly sent as e-mails) as well as texts sent from my phone, give you glimpses into my journey with cancer—sometimes harrowing and sometimes triumphant. Taken together, these letters tell a whole story.
These communications are in their original form, with only slight edits and some insertions for clarification. Names have been changed to protect the privacy of those mentioned.
These letters are raw, intimate, personal, and very human. It is with gratitude to the recipients of these letters, who graciously received them and responded with great care and support, that I now have the honor and pleasure of sharing these writings with you.
May you be moved and educated by them, and may they bring an occasional smile.
