Essential Oils

frankincenseEssential oils have been used for thousands of years for cosmetic purposes, as well as for their spiritually and emotionally uplifting properties. There are many references to essential oils in the Bible, and ancient cultures took advantage of their therapeutic benefits. These oils are commonly used to inspire a positive emotional state, to enhance physical well-being, to purify the home, to refine skin, and to create deep spiritual awareness.

Young Living essential oils are one the more expensive brands, but they are known for their potency and purity. Young Living monitors the production of their oils from seed to seal, applying vigorous quality controls. There are many other good brands available, but quality control should always be taken into account, as contaminated and impure oils can actually cause harm.

There are hundreds of essential oils and essential oil blends. Most are known for specific physical and/or spiritual properties. To learn more about a particular Young Living essential oil, you can check the Young Living essential oil product guide.

Research, directed by Dr. Mahmoud Suhail, is currently being done on Sacred Frankincense as a cancer treatment (please see right). The research is still in its infancy, but Dr. Suhail and Young Living board members find the potential promising.

Sometimes you can have a detox reaction from using essential oils, as I did. My detox reaction is documented in my letter titled “Detox Reaction from Essential Oils.” It’s important to know that detox reactions are common and are not a reason for panic, but symptoms should be watched closely.
